Join Rabbi Pinchas Giller to explore the myths and realities of Hasidic Jews today

Many of us think we can recognize Hasidic Jews, but do we really know them? Over four classes, we’ll explore the myths and realities of Hasidism, an 18th-century movement that was nearly destroyed by the Holocaust, but now is flourishing and growing. Who are they? What do they believe? How many varieties of Hasidism are there? And what is their relationship to the secular world? We’ll answer all these questions, and more.

Instructor: Rabbi Pinchas Giller

Rabbi Pinchas Giller was ordained at Yeshiva University and received his PhD from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. His has written four scholarly works on Kabbalah and its central work, the Zohar. Rabbi Giller is on the faculty of the Ziegler Rabbinical School and is the head of the Jewish Studies department at the American Jewish University.
